BON Hotels takes on Constantia Hotel, Midrand

1 December saw BON Hotels, a South African based hospitality company that owns, manages and markets hotels, take on ownership and management of the hotel business at the 49-room Constantia Hotel in Midrand. Soon to be renamed BON Hotel Midrand, the hotel is the second Gauteng property in the growing BON stable.

It will be business as usual as the hotel undergoes minor refurbishments, upgrades and in-house training.   “Job retention was key, and the intention is to up-skill and up-train existing staff to meet the BON standards of service,” says Guy Stehlik owner and founder of BON Hotels.  There will be an immediate emphasis on improving the food and beverage offering – the hotel will offer the ‘best breakfast in town’ and the surrounding business community will be able to visit the hotel restaurants too, for quickly-served, healthy lunches.

Midrand is no longer a stop-off between Johannesburg and Pretoria, but has grown into a massive corporate hub almost worthy of city status.  Besides the hotels’ excellent location, in a safe and secure estate, surrounded by big corporations, office parks, shopping centres, restaurants and 20 minutes from Johannesburg International Airport and Pretoria, the setting is peaceful – an urban oasis of sorts.  Each of the 49 rooms overlook the pool and surrounding property, teeming with trees and shrubs, and are spacious and understated in décor and design. With three conference venues to choose from, seating up to 400 guests, the hotel is equipped to host and manage any and all events.

Stehlik is confident about the hotels’ future success based on a range of factors, coupled with BON’s unique management style and blueprints, crafted by his team – the vision is to make BON Hotel Midrand a very popular choice for conferencing and events, given its renewed status, accessibility, surrounding amenities, improved services and facilities and affordability.  Adds Guy, “The hotel will very definitely be way above the typical three-star standard and along with the new General Manager, Dean Gilder, the hotel is on its way to renewed popularity as a venue of choice for the corporate and conference markets.”
